July 15, 2012 Conditioning

Forward Rolls: 10
Battling Ropes: 71, 50
Superman Planks: 8 seconds, 6 seconds


I'm getting increasingly annoyed at my performance on box jumping. It's not that I'm missing, but I keep psyching myself out for some reason, and it's like I almost forget HOW to jump properly.  Or I'll crouch down and my body just freezes.  I have no idea why I'm getting a complex about them.  I can clear the box by about 3" at the peak so I've got plenty of room.  The thing is since I'm hesitating I keep jumping less confidently and banging the hell out of my knees and shins on aborted attempts.  Introduced superman planks...I need to work on them...did not last long. June 24, 2012 Conditioning


  • 34.5" Plyo Box Jump / 34.5" Seated Plyo Box Jump Supserset: 15-15
  • Cartwheels: 10
  • Forward Rolls: 10
  • Bear Crawls: 40 steps
  • 28kg KB Swings: 30, 30
jumping was weird. It was like I was overthinking it and couldn't jump several times. Took me almost 20 minutes to finish the superset, usually takes about 4 or 5. I kept starting to jump but stopping myself.  No idea why.  My hamstrings are tired though, that may have something to do with it. This past Friday I didn't do unilateral deadlifting; I'm going to put that on my deadlifting day from now on.  Not getting any better at cartwheels going to my right, but I'm going to keep trying. I thought the KB swings would be more for conditioning than actual hamstring....whoops. I'm typing this on Wednesday and they've been sore as hell all week.  Going to put swings on deadlifting or squatting day from now on.  Not good times.

Enjoying the conditioning days.  More videos of ill fated cartwheels, and also some forward rolls, no idea why the F I zoomed in this much....

June 11, 2012 Upper Body

  • Flat Bench: 285*1 300*3 305*2 275*3 (hit post)
  • BB Underhand Rows: 200*10 225*6 245*6
  • Push Press: 215*2 225*1 235*X
  • Forward Rolls: 10
Thoroughly enjoying tumbling.  Session went good, underhand rows feel great. Not sure why I missed 235 on the push pressing, was having trouble balancing when I tried to clear it.   Finished with some  forward rolls.  And now for some progress pictures.  Click for larger versions.  I'm 197.5 lbs. in these, I'm guesstimating bf at 9.5%; in the picture on the left you can see a vein in my left shoulder that only really comes out at or below 10% under normal conditions.
