March 30, 2014 Sprinting

  • 60m: 4
OK it was absolutely freezing out and a shattering wind blowing across the track.  Was NOT prepared for that, didn't even have an undershirt on.  I'm still pretty fat right now from the bulk too, may wait a couple weeks til I'm down 3-4 more lbs. to save wear & tear on my knees.

  • 300m: 1
  • 200m: 1
  • 100m: 2
  • 60m: 5
  • Total: 1000m
  • Broad Jumps: 8' 8", 9' 1", 9'1"
Good session, wasn't really in the mood at first, but I'm taking next week off so I kind of needed to. First 300 of the year, always an adventure.  Finished with some 60s because I didn't feel like doing a bunch more 100s, and I'm trying to get faster at the start .Did some broad jumps at the end, still going consistently. This is at Harvard's Track as well, so the lengths are different.

So I wanted to do a little sprinting in the morning before my PM workout. This was way less than I wanted though, the wind was absolutely horrible and it was only about 43 degrees out. Absolutely froze while trying to sprint.  Should have just walked across the street to the hill by where I live and sprinted up that instead of going to the track.

Happy 4th! Did this early before going to barbeque/fireworks later on.  Another absolutely soupy disgusting day. I love it!  Was about 90-93 degrees, humidity must've been in the 90s, and the dewpoint disgusting because it felt like I was breathing soup.  The harder it is though the greater the reward.  1020 meters total; we'll see how the weather is next week and if I can do even more.  I'm thinking of starting with a 400; I'll basically be almost running in place for that last 100m or so I'll be so beat, but I may just do it.

  • 100m: 3
  • 60m: 2

So I started with sore/tight hamstrings, and just figured I'd do a couple hundreds, and then a few 60s and call it a day.  Instead on my first sprint I hit the 100m mark and realized I wasn't even vaguely winded.  Hit 200m and then walked the other 200m back to where I started, and immediately did another 200m.  The effect I thought last week would have (100+ degrees, no clouds, succulent humidity) did occur...this felt so easy. Cloudy, dry, maybe 65 degrees, perfect.  Feels good man.

  • 60m Sprints: 5

Hottest day of the year so far, hit about 99.  I was sprinting around 5:30, it was about 103 on the track with the reflected heat.  Air felt like breathing soup or wet cement. I love these days; you really find out how much willpower you have. Plus it makes the next week feel easier if conditions are even vaguely better.  I hit 1100 meters here, new high for the year.  I brought two bottles of water, needed both.  Was drenched after the first two sprints.  Hard to describe how hard it was to run those 60s at the end; felt like I was drowning the air was so humid.  Went home and put bags of frozen peas on my knees...felt great.

light mist, cloudy, light breeze. Perfect.  Finished in about 60% of the time I usually take.  Felt great. Loving sprinting.

whooooooooooooooo.  Wasn't sure how I'd feel. Quads felt tight throughout, I needed to stretch after each run, but I still got 940m total in!  Really happy.  I could've done a 200 on the first sprint, probably will next time.  Great running!

  • 100m Sprints:1

It was GORGEOUS out.  About 55 degrees and breezy, perfect for sprinting. I didn't even break a sweat.  I wish I had a few more recent sprint sessions under my belt, I would've stayed out longer.  I could've done 1500 meters in this weather.  As it is though I didn't want to destroy my legs before squatting tomorrow, and I'm just getting back into sprinting season.

March 21, 2012 Sprinting!

  • 100m Sprints:3
  • 60m Sprints:5

Beeeeautiful day out, so I headed over to Harvard's outdoor track and ran some sprints.  I'm going to focus more on speed this year as opposed to endurance.  So I'm going to keep it at 100m max most likely. Maybe an occasional 200.  Loving the 60s.  Got 600m total; honestly was not expecting it to be as taxing as it was.  My legs/body was DEAD after this.  Hopefully doesn't effect squatting tomorrow.
