Back to class after spring break, I'm a bit tired today, circadian rhythm has to adjust to a shift of about 90 minutes in wake-up time. I'll be fine within a day or two. I got 250 on Push Press, which I'm happy with. I barely got 240, but figured I might as well go for 250 anyway, and I nailed it. SO happy. My all-time record is 255. Rest of session I just wanted to really hammer out some weighted pullups, and do some farmers walks. Wasn't sure I was progressing on the farmer's walks, then I saw that the last time I did them with 105 I got 67 steps. So yeah, definitely improving.
Bench Press (pinky on knurling): 250*3 250*3 250*3 250*3 250*3
BB Unilateral T-Bar Rows: 205*3 225*3 245*3
Push Press: 225*1 235*1 240*1
Sternum Pullups: 7, 5, 4
DB Farmers walks: 105*67
Wanted to get some more reps in with the pinky on knurling width for bench press. Also, push press is going back up. May take a run at 275 in the coming months.
Happy New Year! My goal is the same as every year; get into disgustingly good shape, the best of my life, continue to be athletic, only more so than ever. More smolov jr. So far so good. Heeeavy cable rows. On suitcase carries again focusing on making sure my form is perfect. Farmers walks went well. I think next time I'm using the hex bar. I love weighted carries
Good first session. the smolov jr. stuff only covers incline benching, everything else is just me throwing in my regular workouts after. Not too hard at all so far, hopefully it gets more challenging.
I don't think I could have even done 347 for a cluster of 10. That is without a doubt my peak on 10 rep clusters. Feels good man. Did some bulgarians after, then walking lunges. On the walking lunges I'm actually using a preacher bar, a regular bar would be too long and unwieldy. I have to have friends/staff put the thing on my shoulders for the heavier sets though. If you haven't tried walking lunges I highly recommend them. It's hard to describe what it's like being fatigued, but not beat to piss, and then doing a set of walking lunges. I don't sweat, ever, really. I do these things and I am literally leaving a dripping trail of it behind me. Those big heavy single-leg multi-joint exercises get you huffing & puffing. I had forgotten about the straight leg cable kickbacks, those are another KILLER exercise, you have to clamp down your entire core while you do them to make sure you're not just swinging your hips to move the wait. Did some farmers walks after, then seated rope pulls. Basically tie the end of a rope to some kettlebells, walk away carrying the rope until it's fully extended. Sit down and while remaining upright pull the rope towards you hand over hand. Surprisingly taxing on the midsection.
Also, here's a video of straight-leg cable kickbacks. The guy in the video doesn't go as far back as I do, and I don't let my foot hit the ground at any point during the set.
Good session. No clue why I didn't increase weight on incline bench here, I wanted to go for 3 rep sets max for the rest of this bulking cycle, see if I can get 300. Rope pullups went well. Standing press hit a new PR. Was taxed by the time I got to Farmer's at the end.
Brutal session. Kept weights up all around. Closing in on the last month of this bulk. Time to up the weights here too, as I did on my lower 'light' day. Got 175 on the standing press, I want 225 for 1 by the end here. Incline bench my record is 275*3, I think I could break that fairly soon, but I want 300 by the end of March as well. Threw some weight on the pullups since I feel stupid doing them in sets of 12 or 14 or whatever. Did some farmers walks...holy crap that winded me. 80 lbs. this coming week. Finished with some PUPP
